Have you ever wondered why birds migrate? This paper will tell you why birds migrate, what birds don't migrate and finally why those birds don't migrate.Their are many reasons birds migrate and the paper will tell some of those reasons. Many different birds migrate, this paper will tell you some of them that don't migrate and why. This will tell you why you don't see so many birds in the winter then in the summer.
There are many reasons birds migrate. Here are a few reasons. Seasonal atmospheric changes can cause difficulties for birds so they need to migrate to where they will be able to survive. Along with that changes in the seasons messes with the birds food supply by either decreasing it or making it very hard to find. Climate is a big factor in the migration process. The climate also affects the amount of food there is because if there is a hard winter then there is less food to go around so they have to travel farther than usual. Certain weather can kill birds, eggs and their young due to exposure and nests falling apart. Another problem some birds have are nest predators.
There are many birds that don't migrate. Some of these birds live in New England. They are cardinal, chickadee, blue jays, owls, woodpeckers, grouse, nut hatcher, grosbeaks, ginches, snow bunting, cedar waxwing, crows, sparrows and starlings. In Canada, Alaska and Eurasia redpolls live year round, crossbills live in the boreal forest. In central and southern California is where the magpies live. Finally the falcons live in South America and Africa
Some birds don't migrate for many reasons. Most of them that stay are strong enough to survive the winter. Also they can collect enough food to survive from feeders that people put out. Many birds store food away or switch to a different kind of food. Some can survive on the plants and animals where they live like the magpie and falcons. Finally being there early in the spring helps them be more successful in raising their young.

Now after reading this report you know why birds migrate, why some don't migrate and why they don't. It also tells about birds in different parts of the world and why they stay there instead of migrating. It was an interesting paper to report on and was educational.
